Join the ‘Collaborate’ Systems Leadership Programme

Collaborate is a system leadership programme that has been designed to ignite and cultivate system leadership capability in the South East London Integrated Care System. The programme achieves this by equipping participants with the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to succeed and work effectively as system leaders.

We are ambitious about making tangible changes to the health and wellbeing of our communities in south east London. But people face different challenges and need different services, depending on their circumstances. We know that local people have different experiences and health outcomes based on where they live and other factors, including their gender, sexual orientation and ethnicity.

The current health and care system doesn’t always meet these needs, with services often treating people when they get sick rather than helping them to stay healthy in the first place. It can also be a struggle to integrate our fantastic services, including mental health and social care services.

Our integrated care system is a partnership, bringing together the full range of organisations responsible for publicly funded health and care services in south east London. We know that by working together, sharing intelligence and insight, and combining our resources we will deliver better services for people in south east London.

Transitioning to better system leadership will result in our 1.9 million residents receiving more personalised, efficient, enhanced and joined-up care for them and their families.

What does the ‘Collaborate’ programme include?

  • Launch event: an in-person event which brings the group of 30 together to launch the programme and enable leaders to start to build connections across the system.
  • 5 in-person modules: in-person workshops to share expertise, develop self-awareness, leadership mindsets and core behaviours through experimental learning, discussions, and activities.
  • Group sessions: small groups come together to explore and share their system leadership challenges and gain new perspectives using structured and impactful questioning frameworks.
  • Site visits: participants visit other partners from the system to gain new insights to take back into their own role.
  • Immersive week: opportunity for leaders to learn through an experimental learning experience in an external residential for 3 days.
  • Action learning projects: small groups work on specific innovation projects set and sponsored by a Senior Leader
  • Monthly talks: talks from international speakers and other south east London leaders to share insights into leadership and working in a system within the sector.
  • Mentoring: regular 1:1 mentoring sessions with senior leaders within the system
  • Leadership presentations: an in-person event at the end of the programme, which brings the group together to share learning.

This programme targets two sets of leaders:

the best leaders within the system.
  2. Existing leaders: those in leadership positions with existing leadership capability, leading at
a system level for the first time.

This course is open to anyone who is considering system-wide leadership roles in the future. We are looking at both existing leaders and those with the potential to take a future step forward into system-level leadership.

How can I get involved?
